Tamara Cartwright
Advocate and Activist
Tamara started her journey into the cannabis community in June of 2007 when she founded the Southern Alberta Cannabis Club but that was just the beginning. She organized the First Global Marijauna March for Lethbridge in Alberta. May of 08, and the 420 April 09 as well as attending protests on parliament hill.
A year after her battle with the doctors for her medical licensing she finally obtained it in Feb of 2011 but only after leaving her home province to do so. Being a legal patient she felt her voice was able to gather more momentum and she moved forward within the organizations of Norml Woman’s Alliance of Canada, as well as Director for Canadian Therapeutic Cannabis Partners. After moving to British Columbia in 2014 she started the Kootenay Cannabis Club.
Tamara has spoken at TY Expo’s and 420 events, was a witness in the Mernagh case and has sat in multiple MP offices in Alberta and British Columbia. She has attended Liberal Convention as a delegate for the Crowfoot riding something that had never been done before as well as participating in the legalization round tables. She also has organized multiple gatherings from protests fundraisers to cannabis cups along with helping people access medical licensing.
As a patient herself Tamara was able to maintain her own garden for 5 years, learned how to use the plant in all it’s forms and now educates people on all aspects of the plant from seed to finished product, be it growing or showing how to extract or make edibles.
Tamara continues to be active in the community with writing and her podcast
